Hey, what should I look for in a used TT?
I have a budge of about 26K and always liked the TT. Consumer Reports seems not to think it is too reliable. Is there anything I should look into when searching for one.

if 5+ yrs. old or around 60k miles, ask if timing belt changed....
i bought mine used last year. i have a 2001 tt quattro coupe. it only had 30k miles on it and got it for 19k.
a few of the little accoutrements were in broken (lift gate lights, passenger side window ****, outside temp guage).
i personally would not one with more than 1 owner, and only 2 if they have detailed records.
if you're in chicagoland, you can get great deals at luxurymotors.com.
althought it's debatable, i also got a 3 year warranty. i think it gives me piece of mind.

This probably goes without saying, but the later the model, the better.
Speaking from experience. My 2001 has been a nightmare in terms of quality. Many of the common problems seemed to have been worked out with later models.
Given the choice I would opt for a 2003 with more miles than a 2001 with less.

26K? get a 350Z instead..
No really, if you are seeking pure performance and plan on doing track events, you can get a slightly used 350Z with 18's, Brembos, etc for that price. Plus you get better reliability. But I know, you came to this forum because I assume you are dead set on the TT for the style, German build, and better interior quality, then 26K will get you a nice one.

In researching, I have seen the following........
26K certified 2004 TT 225 Coupe (actually 2 of them)
22K for 2002 ALMS with 45K miles
20K for red 2003 with 55K miles
a couple under 20K but also have over 60K miles, both ALMS grey
Opinions?
