Here's to the hope that every modding group is lucky enough to have a guy like Hans in it...

However your story is a compelling one, and i will entertain all with your exploits!
Mike calls me almost two weeks ago to inform me that he "hit a #)^&%(#%( deer"....albeit he was fairly calm...it was funny.....damage was amazingly minimal..just a headlight assembly and a fender edge around the housing bent inwards.
So I had an extra light assembly that i had scored for parts, and offered it up to Mike on the condition it was "as is"...never tested the electricals in it, but what could be wrong??? ;-)
So Mike shows up yesterday and it was the first time i had a chance to see the damage...he does good work!
(while you cannot see it here..there was still hair in the assembly from Bambi!)

Amazingly enough, almost all of the bulbs and electrics still worked!
So as we are transferring a few extra pieces, i notice my replacement unit has NO TABS on top....nada, zilch. CRAP!!!! Forgot to check that....So with a bit of ingenuity, a drill, and some ZIP TIES!!!! We fab up topside temporary ziptie tabs.....;-)

So while it is really ghetto...it looks to be able to hold fairly well. Problem also, is that the rear support tab was shattered as well and there is no support from the rear to prevent the light from moving backwards (plus the front tabs help there too! So, i remove the broken tab bolt, and cut up a small section of WOOD!!! Yes WOOD!!! to recreate a support and make it long enough to put tension on the front side lower edge of the light assembly!!....

Using a new machine screw that fit the threaded nut in that area to support the wood (geez, still cannot believe i am saying that!!)....

Mike "adjusting" the zip ties for final fitment...

So she is all buttoned up and ready to go..and all of the lighting is working!!! If you look at the fender edge in this pic, you can see where the paint is missing..that is where the bend is...amazing ;-)

Mike is gonna look into the tab repair kit to see if we can use that to clean up this mess....but as he reported to me this AM in an email, the light works perfectly, is adjusted almost spot on, and there is only a TINY bit of vibration over very ROUGH roads...
All in all it was fun, but man, talk about the ugliest headlight repair EVAR!!!
That is all...
Thanks for the beer Mike and here is to "DEER PATROL" and some more laughs on another "mod-day"!!!!! ;-)
