Throttle Body cleaning/adaptation
If you disconnect and remove the throttle body, the Bentley says you must do the adaptation procedure. Maybe this will be the voltage scrambling that's necessary. I don't know. But by disconnecting the battery, you can at least be sure one of the conditions has been met. If you've got a stored DTC that doesn't activate the check engine light, then according to the Bentley, no adaptation... and you might not know. It happens fast, like in less than 10 sec. according to my ProDiag...
I did mine yesterday with a ProDiag (handheld competitor to Vag-com running on a Palm) and my car's throttle response is smoother, especially at lighter throttle pressure.
