Question about the TT burning oil............
I have taken my TT into the dealership 3 times for the low oil light. All three times she's down about a quart and a half, and they have topped it off, giving me an excuse and sent me on my way. This time they do an oil consumption test and ask me to drive the TT for 1000 miles and bring it back. The TT has now burnt a half quart of oil. The dealership tells me it is normal and that it has something to do with how the pistons are cooled, and again send me on my way. I've had my TT 9 1/2 months nows and she is not a daily driver. When I do drive her, it's 99% highway. This is my second TT. My first one didn't burn any oil at all. So it's the only thing I have to base anythings off of. I find it hard to believe that burning roughly 4.5 quarts between oil changes is the norm. Sorry for the lengthy post, but here is my question...... Am I getting blown off by the dealership? I appreciate any and all help. Thanks!!!!

Is on the threshold of "acceptable" before you really have a case with the dealer.
It may be sucking it through a faulty PCV system...Quite common actually. How many miles on this car BTW?

Very well could be the PCV system..>>
Pull the hose off the metal charge pipe on the passengers side and look for unusual amounts of oil here. Under boost, a faulty PCV valve forces oil into the intake hose and it is transported throughout the entire charge system and eventually burned. It's unlikely to be valve guides or piston rings. These motors are pretty stout in that department..

1.5 qts/1000 miles seems like a lot.
At first, my car only burned about 1 quart every 8K miles. It started burning oil more rapidly- on the order of 1 quart every 2K miles or so- until I had to replace my turbo.
Since the new turbo, oil consumption is down- I usually have to add a quart only every 4K miles or so. A quart and a half every 1000 miles is really crazy, though. That's half a quart with every gas tank... way, way too much IMO.
