Default Outer drivers side rear brakelight bulb out - took a quick peek and noticed

that it's hard to tell how to get the socket out to replace the bulb. Not at home with the Bentley - but wanted to pick up a bulb to replace. How does the socket come out. Didn't want to try and force anything.

Default remove the tail light assembly. you need then to remove 2 Phillips screws in the black plastic to

release the lamp base

From the trunk, open the small "doors" Reach in and twist to the left on the black and white "star" like *****. Remove those.
keep track of which one goes where. one is longer.
These here (Not my pic)

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/16205/backup.jpg">

Then you will need to push from inside to release the entire lamp assembly.
You will need to release the post, shown on the left, from it's capture point on the chassis, inside of the back of the car.
Squeeze the vertical electrical connector at the top and bottom to remove it.

Then you will see two phillips screws, needed to remove the black plastic bulb carrier, to get at the bulbs.

NOT the things circled in the pic. You can see where the screw heads are supposed to be here.

Default Interesting note regarding German cars now, and the MkII TT....

German auto laws now dictate the auto owner must be able to remove and replace any light on the car with simple tools. This is why the MKII TT headlights can be removed, as they are on a track. My Boxster is the same way- the whole headlight comes out to replace any bulb. The New TT has a small tool that facilitates this.

I'd like to see how they do it for the tail lights.

Default Entire headlight "eyeball" on the New Beetle slides out on a runner too

It's easy... as long as the plastic headlight module doesn't stick and bind on the plastic runners (ask me how I know)

Default On our B7 A4 Avant - you have one screw and the rear unit comes out

but the thing that is frustrating on the TT is - that if they used a "twist" style socket - you could replace the bulbs pretty easily without removing the unit. It's not a big deal, just a bit inconvenient.
