Quoted $690 for Bilstein/Eibach install. Ripoff?
Yeah, I know the San Francisco Bay Area is expensive, but this is ridiculous.
Anybody knows alternative installer?
Should I try it to do it myself?
TIA
If I had to give you the best advice, I'd just tell you to shop around and find a good price from someone you'd trust. It's really difficult to gauge pricing versus other people here on the board, because I had been told I could get it done for as low as $350 also, but for me to get it done here at home, no one would even do just the bilstein/eibach for less than $600. I ended up driving the 3 hours to stay with my family in Detroit and have a guy that's also done my timing belt. Comparing pricing here is nearly impossible because a lot of pricing with independent shops will be based off of dealership pricing, which in turn is partly determined by the location. If I had to guess, I'd say that Streetwerke can afford to charge that much because of their reputation. I mean, I live in Michigan and I've heard of them, so you're probably going to pay a premium for that. On the same note, they have that reputation for a reason and will probably stand behind their work to protect it.
