Default FINALLY got my car back after TB break

www.sabihkhan.com/auditt/tb

Finally got my car back from the shop after my timing belt break.

I had broken 12 valves (8 exhaust 4 intake).

after getting my car back, i hear a wierd creaking from the right front. as well as a "tinny" sound while making a full left circle. could it be that something is just loose. Or perhaps the 2months 10 days that the car wasnt driven caused some kind of suspension stiffness.

the creak happens sometimes when engaging first gear from a standstill, sounds like its coming from the right front.

any ideas?

boy i missed my car<ul><li><a href="http://www.sabihkhan.com/auditt/tb">Timing belt break pics</a></li></ul>

another thing. I dont know how normally hot these cars run in the summer. but my temp guage while stopped stays at +1 notch from center, and while moving its usually at center. Sometimes ive seen it go above 1 notch towards hot though.

Default Your temp problem could be the t-stat....>>

if thye didn't replace it is could be getting bad. If they did, they might have replacedit with a non OEM thermostat.

Default Holy smokes... Was it covered under warranty?

No idea on the creaking sound. Could be many different things I think.

Default Not uncommon. Mine will occasionally do the same.

One notch past center is "within normal range." The fans should eventually kick on though and bring it back to center. Do you know how to check the operating temp via the climate control? It sould read around 90 or so, and once it hits 100, the gauge moves up a notch. Make sure it's not going much higer than that. Also with the AC on, the fans should automatically come on with it, which should hold the temp under 100.

Could be the thermostat as Robert mentioned. Also just check to make sure they topped up the coolant in after the engine rebuild.

Default Find out if they replaced the thermostat, and if so, was the ECS thermostat OEM?

Aftermarket thermostats have been proven to not open as wide or readily as OEM.

Default only parts i recieved back were the idler roller, waterpump(which looked fine) and the rod bearings

i had 2 bottles of coolant, both should have been used. i thought my water pump would have been messed up after everything i read about the wp breaking. i replaced it with the metal fan wp. i have not checked to see if i have the green top sensor, perhaps with some better pics of its location ill check that out tonight.

I dont know what parts ECS tuning uses for their waterpump/ thermostat.

after the traumatic experience of the TB breaking, i dont have the time/money/energy to not be paranoid about the car.

any idea what that tinny sound would be while turning left in a circle.
