Default What specifically are you looking to achieve????

I have a 1st ed TT which is a 180FWD. With a few mods, including APR I am comfortable with my performance as I am not concerned about being the fastest as much as a reliable sports car with some juice when I need it. So it depends on how much you want to invest as the 180 has limits, plus more advanced models have been introduced (2001, 2002......2008). Just my 2 cenTTs.

Default A KO4-01 w/APR software >

you can buy each seperately which I recommend - painless bolt-on upgrade, perfect for a FWD.

Default I run a K04-001 with neuspeed software...

and a couple other little pieces

rock solid reliable after 75k.

just a K04 and software would only be about $1500 or so plus labor to install. good enough place to start...

the nice thing about fwd is the install is much easier, there's down pipes available and lots of other stuff to bolt on later. have fun

Default REVO/ATP for me,TT FWD

If you are going for 300+whp stay away from K04 uprades, not worth the time/money unless you are doing the 225TT K04...I have done K04 upgrade
before and the owner as well as I were dispappointed with the negligible increase, the 225K04 is good to 260-270hp so you will have better results with THAT KO4.For my car,TT180FWD,I installed a ATP GT2871R turbo kit,REVO big turbo software, good IC and exhaust setup and @26+28 psi made 355 and 381 whp.
Car is daily driven,no CEL and other than burning out the stock clutch, has been faultless.
Since your car is a FWD the VW/Golf turbo stuff fits right in,and so far I have 14k miles on my car,and run 26psi boost daily,so far so good!
If you build it correctly,it will be powerful and reliable.....plus we don't need to worry about the weight and complexity/failure of the rear suspension/Haldex/diff.

Default Maybe, only if he can do the install himself; otherwise better off with APR Stage III >

if you pay a shop (that's you, right?) to do the install correctly (and nothing in the writeup is unrealistic or unexpected), he may as well spend the money on a complete package (my guess on the ATP/Revo is $2600 give or take), not including the labor - my guess there is the ATP is at least 1.5x the labor of the APR, but 'to each..' and all that.

Joe@vwvortex passed on this link; read all 3 parts

Default I actually used the T25 kit,not the eliminator.

Yes,I agree,if your mechanical abilities
are "average" then even the APR kit may be a struggle. The ATP kit was easy to install (for me),but since I do not use any APR products, cannot comment on their turbo kit.Either way,it has been tried and proven,so APR may be the right choice for the DIY.But be prepared to pay for the priviledge!
