Default I STFA but can't get a complete answer on brake pads. Thoughts? >>

The forum has debated this a million times, with no clear winner.

Basically, I want:
1) better performance than stock, but won't be tracking in the near future
2) as little dust as possible (OEM == @^&%@#&^%)
3) No squeeling, if possible (Steve says install error, I say whatever I can do to avoid it).

Board appears split between Mintex Reds, Hawk HPS and various ceramic products. I am open to any of these based on recommendation.

Thinking about doing SS lines, pads, rotors, and fluid. Would love a BBK, but don't want to spend the $$$, probably don't need it, and am trying to avoid vanity if possible.

THANKS!

Default I've had excelllent service from..>>

Mintex. In fact I have em back on the car now..Low dust, good bite, No squeal ever (installed with High temp silicone on the brake backing plates and beveled with a file)..

The Hawks have a history of squealing as reported here..

I had Mintex Reds for awhile now, no problems, but just a little less dust than OEM.

Default I went with PBR/Axxis Deluxe

Braking the same as stock, but much less dust. I had used Mintex Redbox in the past, but has a bad experience on them in my '03 Passat (wet braking was scary). Changed to PBR/Axxis. PBR worked great on the Passat, so tried them on the TT for the lower dust.

If you want better braking than stock they are probably not what you want, but the low dust is a great benefit.

Default There are some bad Mintex pads out there -

I got a set and they wouldn't stop the car. Talk about dangerous. Changed to PBR Ceramics. Good pad, but tends to squeal a bit.
