Default I don't want to know the answer to this question.

As I was putting my new spacers on tonight I was spinning my front wheel and if you spin it back and forth it feels like there is some play in it.

You can hear it go click click.

I crawl up under and where the shaft enters the transmission it seems like there is play inside of it. The click comes from inside that area.

Is this normal.

I am not pleased. If this is going to cost tons of money, lie to me.

Its a brand new transmission. I was replaced about 8k miles ago because I busted a hole in mine in a wreck.

I was so worried I lifted up my friends GTI, it does the same thing, which eases the pain a bit, but it still concerns me greatly.

Please enlighten me.

In/out play? Side to side play?

Default Side to side, when you rotate it.

Should have specified.

Default Sounds normal.

at least I think I've expereinced what you've described with my car on jackstands while in gear.

I always chalked it up to gear lash.

Default Can you adjust gear lash.

Seems like I did a lash adjustment on my TR6 when I had it...

But this is a different animal.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

Default I imagine not.

at least on a modern car. If you have what appears to be rotational slack, my car has had it since day 1 with no detrimental effects.

Go drive your car and enjoy it.
