Has anyone run 255's in the front? I'm researching using 255/40-17's for the track.

Tires are easy to find, Nitto NT-01 and Toyo Proxes RA-1 are both available in that size, bummer that 245/40-17 is NOT available. I know plenty of people have run 255+ in teh rear, I was wondering if anyone tried it out front.

Also, where does one get 17x9 wheels for a TT. Closest I've found so far are wheels for a 2004 WRX STI and use spacers. Might need tuner lugs for that though...

don't know if they will fit

i suspect that they will. also, they will fit on a 8 inch rim. i think i'll try that size next season.

You think that a 255 will work well on an 8" rim? I'm going to switch to 235/40-17's this fall

on my OZ superleggra's. Likely it will be Falken Azenix again due to R-compound restricitions (Watkins glen in August, I'll be yellow group and not allowed, but VUR in November I'll be blue again and ok for R-comps), but I want to see what I can do for November/next spring for a wider tire.

At this point I'm afraid to even try a 245 on an 8" wide rim. Or I'd be going to Watkins Glen on a 245/40-17 Toyo T-1R...

Maybe I should try the 245/40 and see how much clearance I've got and how bulgy(technical term) they look on the rim. Then I'll have a set of T-1r's ready to go for when I go to R-comps, T-1R's to drive to teh track and have ready for rain use and R-comps for real fun...

my 235's on 8 inch wheels have lots of room to spare

Just put on 255/30R19's yesterday and no rubbing so far.

Also the offset on the wheels is 25mm

My 225 pirelli's on 17x7's for winter use are a bit tight. A 255 on an 8" rim would be 30mm wider

on a 25mm wider rim, which would be worse. To add insult to injury, those pirelli's are a good 20mm narrower than my 225/45 Azenix 615's. So a 255/40 azenis would be maybe 50mm wider than the pirelli's, with only 25mm more rim.. Eek.

Thus my quest for 17x9's.
