Default Ooops - - Snapped off the side mirror ****

Somehow managed to snap the **** control off the plastic spine of the electric side mirror adjuster of my 2001 TT coupe.

Anybody know what's involved with a fix? I'm hoping the control cover pops up and the control can be replaced.

Part number, anybody? Headache or can I move on to angst over something else?

Thanks in advance. You folks here have helped out a few times and I appreciate the feedback.

Hmmm. .still have the ****, but it's useless now. Seems the whole control device below has to be swapped. Funny how the little things can really be teeth-grinders. .

Default Yeah you'll need replace the whole switch if the **** broke off

I can't find that write-up. If you want to take the broken switch out I bet I could figure out a cost effective way to repair it.

The post that protrudes from the switch workings below (and is capped by the ****) broke off right at the base at the armrest level. Once turned either right or left, pressure is put on that post to activate the chosen mirror. I'm surprised it's made of relatively flimsy plastic.

I haven't poked around, but imagine the plate that surrounds the "shaft/**** circle" pops up, at which point the switch can be exchanged a for new one?

Any idea of part cost? Something basic like connecting a couple of wires? IhopeIhope?

Just wanted to get some idea of what kind of trouble I've gotten into here.

Thanks.

Default I believe its part # 8N0 959 565 - If I had to guess it's 50 bucks or so

The old one pops out & the new switch pops it. The only wiring involved would be plugging and unplugging the connectors. I'll take your broken one if your just going to toss it.

First, thanks stilljester and nikhil for the information.

I'll see what I can do about locating that part. Obviously, this isn't a crisis situation, so time's not a problem.

From what you say, this is something I can easily do myself ( me = not really a hands-on 'car guy')? `Sounds pretty straight forward.

Is it Kosher to leave EMail addresses on this board? If so, if you'd leave me your EMail, I'll keep it handy - should I perform a successful lobotomy on the switch and try to get the old one your way.

Again, much appreciated. I'll search the web for clairparts.
