Replaced clutch, instrument cluster now inop...
I recently bought the ECS tuning clutch kit, and delivered to my local mechanic (not Audi specialist) to replace the clutch. After two days (and an estimate of $1400 to do the work), he calls to tell me the clutch works great, but the Instrument cluster is inoperable. He's been troubleshooting it since Friday, and he's pulling the cluster today to take it to Audi for check. He says audi told him that the clusters rarely, but sometimes do fail in entirety. I believe the mechanic missed a connection, or fried the cluster in the process of replacing the clutch, Any thoughts, help? He mentioned that it looked like someone had removed the cluster before (previous owner?), but I'm not sure. ('01, 180 hp, FWD conv.)

Clusters are known issues.....>>>>
there have been a few that have failed at the repair shop completely....but only a few. It is possible he missed a connection..but if it is fried, figure around 600$ for the cluster and a couple of hrs to reprogram by the dealer....

Happened to me, while car was at the dealer.
They gave it back to me like that, without saying anything! Like I wouldn't notice that the cluster was fried. (Was working fine at the time of drop-off.) I then had to drop another $800 or whatever it was to have a new cluster put in (after paying some ungodly amount to fix whatever the car was there for).
