Default Poll regarding chip preference, and yes.....

I searched the forums, came up with a few useful posts, but then several more about: it doesn't matter which chip you get, pick based on installer location, plus several more -- ofcourse -- about doritos, taco chips, etc

Here's what I've concluded:
APR maintains stocklike driveability and still gives a good boost of hp/tq. GIAC has the most agressive tuning, but some have had reliability issues. REVO- i'm didn't find enough people using it, i'd rather go with a brand more tried and true for the 225hp 1.8t application.

If you could, post which chip you use and why you chose it,-- I'm especially curious to know which chips the Quiet Sttorm, Steve Schwing, MCPaudiTT, Jeff Bipes, EighTT, Marty, TTinCT, meem, SparTTan, and some of the other very active members have chosen and why

at the moment I'm leaning toward APR with 2 or 3 programs (with WF about to begin, they have a program sale)

ps. does someone have a good walkthrough on removing my ECU/checking my "ecu number" other than goapr.com, check the TT FAQ no info there

Thanks guys!

Default I opine broadly that all are in-service w/ decent results.

Pick your poison: APR does get some serious tq gains on the Stage 1. MTM is also viable, although seen less than others. GIAC is often seen at TT-East or West events, and a good bunch. Revo is also popular.

Default Revo here, no experience with others. It performs like stock until you want more......

power then the boost comes on strong. Got mine at TT East for $400, great price. I also have the SPS 3, which is an additional cost, but allows me to go back to stock, or Revo stock, and adjust the boost. At first my boost levels were way too high, well over 26 lbs, at times. Adjusting down to 22/23 makes it nice and smooth. Have had no problems with Revo.
BTW, make sure you have a boost gauge installed so you can monitor things.

Default APR.....I chose it because ECS Tuning is only 30 minutes from me....as far as multiple programs...

Don't bother with the Stock or Valet options, they're a waste of cash. And if you can get 100 octane fuel locally, that's nice, but are you really going to use it enough to warrant the extra money? I currently have APR93 and haven't felt the need to go above and beyond that. If I relocate to an area where I can only get 91, I'll change it.

Additionally, the security lock-out feature is a complete pain in the backside. You have to actively lock it for it to work which means playing with the cruise control buttons for 10 minutes at a time. If it's that serious, just yank the ECU and be done with it.

APR had a program called V-Tune which was a computer based interface similar to the Revo SPS controllers in that it could adjust boost and timing as well as a few other items of interest. But I don't know if it ever took off.

GIAC on a 1.8T, now a 2.0T, no issues, just power and torque.
