Any OEM parts that are hard to get in the US?
So I've been living in Switzerland for the past 5 months and am heading back to the states in a few weeks. My apartment here is only two blocks from an VW/Audi OEM warehouse/store and dealership, and I don't know if there are any bits that are hard to get, but I could probably ship some parts if it were worth it to anybody here. not really, if i had the money to blow on cosmetic car stuff, euro rear lamps would be high on my list.
There are lots of things not available in the US.... you need to find a reliable inexpensive shipper (or pack the stuff very well yourself) -- stuff tends to get destroyed when shipping across the atlantic.
Also, you'll find shipping on heavy items to be incredibly expensive. Then the recipient has to pay import duty on top of that. Thats why more people don't do this.

Chris is right. Looks good on the surface, but many issues lurk once you take the plunge.
Crazy thing thing is it works just fine the other way around.
This applies to automobile and aircraft parts in spades. DOT regs are very invasive.

Yeah I figured shipping would be expensive, but for small parts I could just pay to check an extra bag on my flight home. $70 for 50lb Geneva to Pittsburgh, not a bad deal.
