Default 2001 TT 225 chippin' question

Hi everyone,

I have been researching each and every chip I can find available for the TT and once in a while I catch a few lines about certain caveats there are chipping some 2001 225HP TTs. I have been searching for more info but I am coming up empty handed. Can someone tell me if there's a known caveat I should be aware of (something about ECU size, can't flash some of the ECUs in the 2001's?) and some more information about what I need to look for?

Thank you kindly in advance. I have owned my 2001 TT for a month now and I never drive without an ear to ear grin anymore.

Default Thanks for the heads up. I read through the posts and I wonder if there are some later 2001 ECUs

that resolve this issue, or what my options may be. I put a word into some various chip tuners to find out more info as well. Surprisingly I thought there would be more posts about such a subject...

In the meantime I have to put in some orders. I'm eyeing the VTDA everyone talks about here. I hear it's fantastic.

Default There are hundreds of posts...>

On the pro and cons of various chips. Put "chip" in your search and read to your hearts content! Most chipping now is OBD port flashed and no hardware is involved. Some older cars require hard chipping due to ECU memory size. This is mostly with 2001's and earlier. Either way the Mod is the best bang for the buck you can go with. Don't over analyse it...They all, ultimately, are pretty similar.

let me know when your ready for that VTDA...I think you'll like it!
