Have you tried any strap wrenches yet or were you asking before you tried?
Craftsman has a one with a nice big handle that should work

Dealer told me they had to break my old shift **** to remove it..
I didn't believe them at the time.
I had my shift lever snap off 2 weeks into owning my TT. Was just about $1k for a new one w/ labor. Part of that was $275 for a new shift **** they said breaks when you try and remove it. I thought it was a stealer lie.. guess not.
