For an 8.5" wide rim, which is a better width? 245 or 225??

225 will give you a slightly stretched look, although there are a >>>
few tires recently that got reviews in European car that have a slightly larger rim guard.
245 is tough in the front depending on the offset of the wheel....personally, i went with 235 on a 19 X 8.5 and this worked perfectly....

Thanks Hans. I'll look for those then. For some reason I went straight to the 245s...
I'm planning on getting the Artics from ER, and they bundle a 225 with both a 7.5" and 8.5" rim, so I figured a little wider would be better for the 8.5" rim.

Toyo T-1R need a wider tread...so a 235 with Toyo looks stretched versus BFG KDW which
looked just right. in fact, the rim guard doesn't even work with the 235 on my 8.5" wide wheels...stacked, the wheels touch each other, not the rim guard. the BF Goodrich KDWs fit better and the rim guard was just right with the 235 width. every tire manufacturer is different, so make sure you check before buying.
