Blower Fan stopped working (yes I searched the FAQs)

Blower Fan stopped working (yes I searched the FAQs)
Hot as Hell yesterday.. Had the top up, windows up and the AC set on "LO"... I selected recirc.. I noticed the fan speed still had some ways to go (on the LED meter). I manually bumped up the fan speed to full.
I made a mental note (mistake) about how the fan sounded like it was really cranking and then the fan speed slowed to a stop.
Oh my it got hot in there quickly.
The AC compressor is functioning, the Blower fuse is fine, the swich "seems" to operate the fans and the fan speed LEDs illuminate. I just ran a VAG COM and there are no codes.
I smelled no electrical burning or anything like that.. The fan sounded "normal" before stopping.
Short of it being a bad fan motor, is there anything else you could suggest I check for?
To make matters worse, my glove box door is broken and I can't open it (so that's just great for this situation).
