Engine noise, any ideas?
I've been hearing the same noise when I start the car after it's been sitting for a few hours. It lasts for about 1 minute, then goes away. It sounds like a high-pitched swirling noise, and my mechanic believes it has something to do with the turbo, but says bringing it to Audi is the next step. Anyone have similar problem/ any idea of what this could be?

Re: yep, Secondary air injection pump should run for 60-90 sec. on a cold start and can be noisy.
Thanks, I'll mention that to Audi when I bring it in. Hope it's not too expensive. This is a weekend car for me with 60k on it. For not driving it much, it sure knows how to drain my pockets.

If it hasn't thrown a CEL it's not really an issue. Just anoying (assuming it's the pump). Hit the FAQ below. TTinCT has posted a rebuild procedure toward the top of that thread..<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1574799.phtml">Thread here..</a></li></ul>
