is the battery tray metal or plastic?

plastic, which is why i didn't think it was necessary to use something else

as a mounting bracket

gotcha, so do you think it would support self tapping screws

<center><img src="http://www.brailleauto.com/productcart/pc/catalog/almountkit_1473_large.jpg"></center><p>i initially ordered a mounting kit like yours for simplicty plus i knew it worked for you. well they accidentally sent me their $80 CNC machined alloy mount for $14. it mounts with 6 self tapping screws in an X pattern on the bottom. would this plastic work well with that set up? i haven't had a chance to take the battery out and look for myself.

i think it would..it's pretty thick, and you could always use bolts/nuts instead of screws

oh and btw...if you can return the braille, you should

it's a rebadged/repackaged deka battery that sells for ~60 instead of the ~100+ that braille charges

i saw that, but some of the amps specs were different

the braille is supposed to have more across the board than the deka. and the story goes they spec them out differently from deka. i have no idea if it's true or not. but my braille came tested with 685 CA. a vortexter tested the same 15 lb deka at 499 CCA which i don't think was actually CCA b/c the battery was not at 32 degrees, that was more of a CA reading (however the battery had been setting for 5 months apparently). it get's pretty cold here so i didn't want to risk it.

who knows, in the end they probably are the same, but with the $80 mount for $14 it makes things a little more reasonable this time. lol. next time i'll for sure try out the deka!

i got killed on shipping though ($50). next time i'm going to try to find a closer distributor.
