Default #@$%!~@#!!! Now I know why the Lotus is so light......

I've always heard from the Elise forum that this is NOT like the German car that I'm used to. The seasoned owners warn that these can be fragile cars in some regards. They warn against leaning on open doors and the windshield when getting in/out for instance.

Well, I found another "fragile" spot.....the door-mounted mirrors. After getting the car waxed yesterday, I merely bumped the driver's side mirror with my hip as I was walking around and snapped that s.o.b. off like a twig.

The mirror is only held on by two plastic nubs. The bottom one has a small metal screw that goes into it from the inside of the door.

Of course, I broke the peg that the screw goes into.

Any recommendations for trying to fix this thing before ordering a new one? I'm a little wary of trying to repair it since it's the one that the screw goes into.

I guess I'll try to find a glue or epoxy that's just for plastic.

warranty - that part must have been fatigued, shouldn't have broken.

Default if possible, use some threaded rod and glue to make it a stud

and use a nut on the other side. simply gluing it wont work.

Default Yeah, and you have to take the door apart to screw it on. I wish they'd used velcro

like the rest of the car.
