Default Remember the front end "clunk" that some of us were getting? And the dealers couldn't figure it out?

Well I took my car to Chicago Performance, and they couldn't figure it out either. They said everything with the steering and suspension looks good and tight. Al did say he could hear the clunk when backing up and turning, but doesn't know where it's coming from.

His advice: Don't worry about it.

Default Funny...i just had >>>

my Defcon 1 kit installed and the bearings replaced while we were at it..

I also have the poly rear bushing on the front control arms that folks say not to do..

Prior to this work i was getting the clunk all the time.....almost every time when backing up....

Once the work was complete, the clunk is completely gone...

My take on it...as they really did nothing special, is that some of the bushings need lubrication after some time....more than likely some good synthetic grease on the pickup points would resolve the infamous "clunk"....

Default The strut bush, per Bentley, is supposed to be lubed. I got some flak for including it in my...

Fotki, but decided not to quit the forum at the time... May rethink that now...

for some more info in case you missed it; I doubt you have, simce I've posted it a few times, but fwiw, there is a lock nut on the end link that's concealed. Default Yeah I remember :-) Stay tuned. Changing ball joints today. About the last possible cause.

If this doesn't get it, I give up. Would have already but the idea of doing DEs like Daytona in December with some mysterious slop or slack somewhere in the suspension did not seem like a good idea. I'm planning on keeping it a while anyway, so now it has a new tight suspension. I'll post about the noise tommorrow. Keep your fingers crossed.

(wonder how fast a TT goes on the banking at Daytona anyway? -------- ponders sanity )
