Clutch on the way out..any recommendations especially from those that installed aftermarket.? MarTT?
I've looked in the archives and it seems that MarTT did the Spec 2+. Others like Southbend? Whats the real difference between them? Whats preffered?
I would like to do some other mods wile on the way there. Any ideas other than a NEW TURBO?
I was thinking Samco hoses, maybe even performance engine/tranny mounts..anything else you can think of?
Also, those of you that went Lightweigh Flywheel. My mechanic says that if you put lightweight on a TT or Golf it creates a pretty annoying sound. True?
How many hours should it take to install a new clutch(labor) and how much it usually totals out at? I've read 8-11hrs?

Hmm . . .
If I had to do it over again I'd go with stock replacement. Unless you are using the car for track duty or competition of some type, the stock clutch is more than adequate. The Spec Stage 2+ kit does everything as advertised, just be prepared to have a different feel than you're used to.
10 hrs labor $1,000
Parts $1,200 (or thereabouts)
Total: $2,200
I think (didn't price it out so I'm not sure) stock is cheaper in parts and likely labor as well, since the tech had done the stock replacement before. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

well...
I dumped the clutch at higher RPM than i thought. Unintentionally. Really. Might sound weird, i know. But i was in traffic, and a bus was about to hit me, so it seemed(not sure if he didnt see me on his side, or what), so i needed a fast launch, and i did get it. Together with a huge push forward. I knew right away THAT WAS NOT smart ! But too late. DUH.
I mean the car is still driveble and its my only daily driver, but i feel that its a WHOLE different feeling now...
You recommend drive it till the car stops? Or im risking to brake something else if i continue driving it..?
p.s. I make sure im taking it easy now.

I'm running the SPEC hybrid clutch with teh 12# alum flywheel
far from stock feeling...chatters like a ***** if at idle...holds like king kong, I like it...but then again I'm used to it...I woudl probably do the clutch again but stick with an OEM flywheel if I had to do it over
