Hood will not open (HELP)

I just finished doing an oil change, closed the hood drove the car off the ramps and washed it, put the car back in the garage and go to open the hood to check the level and I feel something slip as I am pulling the hood release handle.
I STF and someone said to unscrew the handle and pull the cable which did not work, I have about 8" of cable and housing in the car now.

I think I am going to have to release it from the front of the car somehow but I can not see anything from the grill. does the bumper and or grill have to come off? and can this be done without opening the hood?

does anyone have any ideas on how to get the hood open? the bad thing is that I still need to add some oil to the car (about 3/4 quart)

i would suggest jacking the car up and peak around for the connection, not sure where to go>>

from there though. does anyone know if the bentley manual would have this in it?

Same thing happened to me

One of the fastners that hold the engine compartment trim popped and blocked the locking mechanism. Dealer got it open.

I got the hood open by putting the car up on ramps, removing the under tray and reaching up around where the oil filter is all the way up to the latch and pulling on it. took a while to figure out what I was supposed to be grabbing but now that I know where it is I could do it again in a few minutes, hopefully I never have to again.
