Default Motor mount bolt stripped. Solution found??

Aluminum shavings feel out of one of the bolt holes when I took the motor mount out while I was changing the timing belt. It was clear that the threads were stripped out of the mount. I don't remember anything unusual during the previous install (60,000 miles ago).

Of course this happened on Saturday at 7:00 so my options were limited. Couldn't find a 12 mm helicoil and there appears to be some question if this is a suitable application. My solution was to tap it for a 1/2"-20 grade 8 bolt. This fit through the console without modification and the drill size for the tap is very close to 12 mm. I was able to torque the bolt to 85 nm. This is above the 60 nm for the original bolts but less than a full 90 degrees beyond 60 nm. I found 85 nm listed for the original bolt in Bentley in a different set of instructions.

Two questions:

1. Could the threads have sheared off while in use?

2. Anything I should be concerned about with my solution?

Default If it's played with those threads give way. I just replaced that part. PITA!

the threads seem to give up if the mounts are changed, adjusted, etc.
