Saw my first MkII TT on the road yesterday...

I thought it was nice, but it didn't move me in the way that the MkI did. It didn't leave me feeling like, "Hey, I want that!" which was the way that I felt when I ordered my first TT sight unseen from the 2000 Neiman Marcus Holiday catalog. The new TT sort of looked like Audi and Nissan designed it jointly, to my eyes anyway.
No disrespect intended to the the MkII owners. It's probably a better car from a technical standpoint and I wouldn't mind owning one a bit. It just doesn't have quite the same feel to it, for me.

You hit the nail on the head with the first impression. I felt the same way when I saw my first TT years ago. I had to find out what it was all about and I wanted one. I think the new TT really is a better car, but I'm keeping my mk1. Nothing compares to it. Course...us mk1 owners are all probably biased anyway
