Default Some issues with my car yesterday...

I drove my car about 4 miles yesterday to help one of my employees move. The car was perfectly normal. After I was done with the move, I started my car to leave and got classic symptoms of a faulty collant temp sensor. The car idled roughly at about 800rpm. Blipping the throttle led to the idle sticking at 1500+ for a few seconds before returning to a rough idle at 800rpm. I was by myself, so I'm uncertain as to whether or not I was getting smoke at the exhaust tips. I thought the issue could be related to fuel senders or clogged injectors, so I drove to pep boys and picked up some techron. On the way home, the car went into soft limp. I did not get a CEL. I'm now guessing that this is either a faulty temp sensor or a pcv issue. Anyone have other Ideas?
Car goes into the shop tomorrow to have this resolved, along with strut bearing and motor mount replacement.

Default could be temp sensor>>>>

could also be a bad load of gas......try pulling the negative battery cable and reset the ECU and drive it again.....see what happens..

Default About the bad gas...

it only sputtered at idle. Once rpm's climbed above 2500 or so, the car ran fine (until it went into limp). I would suspect that if bad gas were the culprit it would have sputtered at all rpm ranges. Oh well, it has been in need of a trip to the tuner for a while now due to the buzzing at 2800rpm. I'm just going to try to get it all sorted out this week.

Default All 4 coilpacks are new with less than 5k miles on them.

Not to say that one couldn't fail that early, but I think that failed packs would be at the lower end of the probability spectrum Also, when I've had packs fail, it was always felt at high rpm as opposed to low. Bad coils also never resulted in rpm's sticking at 2k.
As for getting a vag-com, I unfortunately don't have a laptop. I do have an OBDII reader which has been very helpful in terms of diagnostic work. Again, though, no CEL with this issue.

Default yup, which is now called VAD...or VAG Mobile.

i used it on my treo 700p for some time...and now, using it on a Palm LifeDrive, since i don't have a palm phone anymore...but still like the palm-based VAG.
