Overheating when at Idle - Yep Something Wrong....
Not being real knowledgeable of how the fan system works and how it is hooked up I am not sure what to go looking for.
I have driven the car several times since this happened and the temp. stay right where it should be. Mind you it has not been above freezing in sometime here in Chicago. Today, I had to wait for my wife and as the car idled the temp. shot up to the 3/4's mark. I revved the engine, made sure the A/C was supposed to be on (doubt it would work at this outside temp.) and still the water temp. would not come back down. Only after driving and pushing air through the radiator did the temp. come back to normal.
Apparently I have a problem and do not know much about the fan system.
As you face the engine the right most fan can turn, but not spin freely when pushed with my hand.
What are your thoughts on how this works and what would be the problem solving for the issue?
Thanks, John
If not it can be the fan control module, or as the other gent said... bad fan - OR Temp control sensor
