Was trying to swap manifolds & I cannot get this connector to release: there's an injector harness connector attached to the head below the manifold, fed from wires running between the two left runners - you can see the leads on the fuel rail just above the "45 06" on the black fuel pressure hose in the pic. It's *extremely* short, so I cannot pull the fuel rail loose; I can barely reach the connector, stuffing my hand between the alternator and the underside of the pass side runner, but cannot get any leverage. You 225 guys don't seem to have this lead as far as I can tell from shots I've archived, so I don't know if anyone can help... but if so, much obliged - I'm not sure I understand the connector mechanism well enough - there's a tab on one side with a small slot in it (sorry - no way I can get a pic), and a wedge on the side 90deg to that, pointing up toward the leads. any good way to pop this thing loose???

Default If it's the connector I'm thinking of..>>

It's for the cam position sensor. If you shine a light down there you'll see a wire loop. Grap that with some needle nosed pliers and pull it out ( to your left)...It's like a locking "C" shaped paper clip. Don't drop it!

Once you pull that the connector will just unplug..

Default I don't think that's it >

there's a connector on the end near the TB that I'm pretty sure is the cam sensor - it uses the spring clip - this one, I cannot see any additional retaining clip. do you push on the tab, I wonder, then pull on the connector, or do you push on the wedge(s) and pull, or some combination of both? grrr. ;-)

Default Sorry...You're right...Not a 225 "Feature".....>>

Damn Audi plugs are always a PITA. Push, pull, wiggle, break and you'll eventually get it...

Look for another similar plug for a clue as to how that one releases..

Default Is it the connector for the harness that runs along the fuel rail?

Default Trying to figure out if you are removing each injector, or just pulling up the rail & harness...

so you can remove the Intake Manifold. The harness connection is just like the headlight connectors.

The connection at each injector has a wire clip to hold it in place. Here is a picture of the underside -

Default my harness has two connectors >

one at the timing belt end, and one 'in the middle' sort of. The one in the middle connects on a very short lead to a connector on the head below the second runner.

Default trying to pull the whole rail, to swap the manifold >

I got it unbolted and all otherwise disconnected and the injectors unseated - as far as the connector leads would allow. Just that one connector I cannot even get good eyes on, much less a grip or a tool. I suppose I could pull the manifold bolts and when it's loose I might be able to tip it up enough to get in and release the connector, but that's difficult too, and ***-backwards from the way I'd like it done.
Thanks though, on the connector info - I'll go study the headlights and see what I can do.

Default VW engine compartment connectors...

tend to be one of three types:

The "junior timer" type, commonly used on fuel injectors. These have a metal bail going most of the way around the connector, and just pull off.

The "two metal ears" type. These have a wire running around the connector, the ends of which are bent up to form two "ears." You squeeze the ears together to release it.

The plastic tab type. These are the trickiest. In my experience, grit/oil can get into the shell and make removal difficult. The tab pushes toward the connector body to release. I've had the best luck with these by first pushing the connector together firmly, them pushing the tab, then pulling apart.
