Default In my quest for cooler motor temps at the track...

I had the front end off and as I was lining it up to reinstall I noticed that the top 1/3 of the grill flows into dead space above the radiator. I'm wondering if attaching something to divert the air flow down and more directly into the radiator might help water temps. A 3" X 30" piece of sheet metal or something similar looks like it would do the trick.
Any thoughts?

Have you removed the weatherstrip at the rain gutter?

Default Also try "hot-wire" the fans ...

unconnect the thermal switch in the radiator and cross the power and lo-speed.

Have you moved your oil cooler to the side yet? I assume with the APR kit you now have a FMIC.

Default Ken, Does it run hot or is this just "preventive"?

Given your experience last year I understand your desire to protect the engine. I just wonder how hot it gets. I never go above a centered gauge when on track. As long as the car is moving and forcing air thru the radiator things stay cool. (Even at Daytona at 80 degrees and getting 6 mpg) Now when I stop, Yes it heats up then. I have noticed a bit of heating at low speed idling like when doing the exercises at a DE. (I hate those things. glad I finally graduated from that requirement:-) )

That air flow director you mention cant hurt. I would try it. Someone mentioned removing the weatherstrip at the rear of the hood. That has to help a bit, but you have probably already done that.

Good luck with it. Season is almost here. (I'm doing Road Atlanta in 2 weeks ) I hope we cross paths somewhere this year. That would be cool.

Default Could be "Bypass" flow, intended to create induced under-hood flow.

Get the trim from Steve that opens the rear of the engine bay (VTDA/TTDA accessory), and let it ride.

Worst I've seen on Road Atlanta is 116*C (in the paddock, left engine running for a few minutes), and it cooled quickly.

He's a BT car and thus a bit hotter by nature.
