Default How can I disable my alarm?

Really early this morning my alarm started going off. It would sound for a minute or two and then it would stopped. Some random amount of time later, from a minute to a half an hour it would go off again. After it woke me up a few times I went outside, drove the car around and opened and closed the doors and trunk several times. I thought maybe it had stopped but 45 min later it started going off again. I even tried leaving the doors unlocked but I guess after a while the doors lock and the alarm enables automatically.

What could be causing this? I've never had this happen before. Is there a way I can disable the alarm without disconnecting the battery? I need to fix this soon as my neighbors are going to kill me! Thanks in advance.

Default doors shouldn't lock themselves automatically if you open a door after pressing unlock button

just open a door then close it back.

if this doesn't work, you could have a door open switch going bad.

good luck!

Default I've been unlocking them remotely with the key without opening a door

Perhaps that's why the doors locked and the alarm was re-activated.

Locking the doors isn't really a feasible solution as I can't really leave my TT unlocked when it's parked on the street overnight.

I'd like to be able to disable the alarm entirely.

Default I had this problem when my keys were out of sync.....

with the car. I would leave the car unlocked, and it would lock itself after a little while. When I finally sync-ed the keys it went away. Strange but true.

By the way, there must be a fuse for the alarm system. I haven't checked but it seems as the best solution for the near term.

Default Same problem in the included link with a couple more clues....

Also I found someone who had the same problem and found that the hood switch was faulty causing it.

Default Hmm, I opened my hood yesterday to check the oil

I guess it would make sense that it was the hood sensor if the hood was improperly closed. I'll try opening and closing the hood and see what happens.

Default Do you have VAG COM? Look for a code 01616. If you have it, your module has committed sipuku.

I had similar problems until I reduced my motion detector sensitivity to 50 percent. Since then, not one problem.

Default This is what mine read a while back. (long, but helpful, I hope)

My car is an 01' TT Roadster 225.

Address 35: Centr. Locks
Part No: 8N7 962 267 A
Component: Central Lock/Alarm D04
Coding: 15900
Shop #: WSC 01236

3 Faults Found:
01366 - Opened Due to Crash Signal
35-00 - -
01370 - Alarm triggered by Interior Monitoring
35-00 - -
01616 - Signal Wire to Interior Monitor
36-10 - Open Circuit - Intermittent

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 45: Inter. Monitor
Part No: 8N7 951 177
Component: Innenraumueberw. D13
Coding: 00001
Shop #: WSC 00000

1 Fault Found:
01463 - Alarm triggered by Sensor for anti-theft alarm System
43-00 - Closed

and this is what Uwe at RossTech sent me back:

these are all "advisory" codes which just tell you why the alarm went off at some point. These stay forever unless you clear them. It's rare to see a car that doesn't have a few "Alarm" codes.

Now the 01616 code, that points at an actual fault, but it's "intermittent" meaning the fault condition didn't exist at the time you scanned the car.

I'd clear clear all of them and not worry in the least unless you've got some actual problem symptoms (such as repeated false alarms) or unless the 01616 keeps coming back.

-Uwe-

And this was the VAG COM solution

Try this:

[Select]
[45 - Int. Monitor]
[Adaptation - 10]
Enter channel 01
Enter a value between 50-100 (it should be 100 by default) for the sensitivity of the ultra-sound sensors
[Save]

Problem solved
