Default Master Steve (or anyone): Got the inevitable CEL, and have 2 questions >

On the way to work this morning, after a great test drive last night, I got a cel. I just had time to run an engine diagnostic, no logs yet, but got a "Knock Sensor - signal too low." Do you suppose that connector I asked about last Friday was the knock sensor (no access to Bentley/EKTA right now)? The CEL went away when I cleared the engine codes. In VAG, I ONLY opened the engine module, and within that module, I cleared the codes - OR, by the way - will that command, no matter where it's entered, clear codes from ALL modules?

Next, it seems like the engine is running cooler (66C - 76C, and a notch below top center), which I presume means it's running too rich - and which I ascribe to the injector seat issue somehow - and which I won't know till I do some logs, but would that give me a CEL? seems like a too rich or too lean condition would, but it might take some time to show up - which is consistent with my symptoms...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Default You've been Dahlbashed?....>>

LOL...err, sorry..

My Bentley is down at the moment, but yes, I suspect that might have been the Knock sensor harness...Just below there is where they live. Double check that connector and zip tie clsed if you can (I recall the tab broke). Dielectric grease in those connectors is also a good thing... Enhances connectivity and keeps moisture out.

On the temp, that's a pretty radical drop and I doubt it can be attributed to the injector positioning... Did you put new O-rings back on the injectors? Good seal? The 02 sensors are always correcting and it would show up in Block 32 (check that). Sounds like a coincidental cooling issue to me....

Default ha, ha - first time I've heard that... >

Yup, It would seem so. The more I think about it, the more I wonder if that manifold is set up for short injectors - that seems to make the most sense, given the issue with installation - and you don't happen to know the length of the short ones by any chance (stay focused, Steve!)? The long ones are 60.3mm, fwiw. And no, I did not change the o-rings.

Anyway, you needed a challenge today - glad I could help!

Thing is, I checked the connector before I ran the engine log and it seemed ok - tight. Would that give me a cel I wonder, or is it the rich condition - which I think is more likely. It's a cold day, 55, but normally it does warm up to operating temps, even with that ambient.

"run logs, run logs"

Default :-) Thanks!

Come to find out, not available any more in 5x100 silver; wish I'd bought a spare one myself!

Default Injector sizes are different...>

Not sure what the DB is spec'd for...Probably the EV6 style...(TT uses the EV12 style)

Put new O-Rings on (No need to pay $7 each, just go to home Depot!) And see if you eventually get a code you can read..

Default the AWP code uses EV6 - B - my guess is it's set up for EV12 >

I found something similar, but not that much detail. I've got a call into Danny at KMD; we'll see what comes back; that certainly explains the dimension difference though.

Well, damn if I want to buy a new set of injectors - that would be D-bashed.
