Xpost from AWOT: Haldex issue update. Dealership says drivetrain warranty void due to FMIC. Help.
I was having Haldex issues so I took the TT in. Needs a new Haldex unit. The Audi rep voided my warranty because of my FMIC.
Service manager is saying that "the FMIC intakes more air which creates more turbo boost which caused more power than the drivetrain is designed to handle," causing my Haldex unit to take a dump.
How can I argue this and get Audi to give me a new Haldex unit? I didn't think FMIC increased boost pressure. Is he a moran? I thought it just sucked cooler air....
Also, I checked with the *old* service manager before I made the mod. Told him what I was planning and he said it wouldn't affect the drivetrain warranty. So on his advice, I added a FMIC. Old service manager is no longer employed there. Is this my best lifeline or do I have a mechanical/technical argument?
This is all BS of course....(unless you are chipped and I believe you are?) the IC makes LESS pressure. Little term called pressure drop. There's also the Magnuson law which protects you from them claiming an unrelated part caused the failure, then, of course, there's common sense.
in reality, given the stupidity ond stubborness of Audi, you might as well just go buy a blue controller on your dime. Chances are the aggravation and legal expenses to fight this will not be worth your while..
