Rear Pass. Side Noise - Mechanical whine...fuel pump?>>>

Hey guys,
Something I noticed today:

Had the car idling on the driveway after coming home from work; was getting the mail out. I heard a weird mechanical whine noise coming from under the rear passenger side..if you go on that side and put your ear by the rear pass side wheel, you can hear it the most clear.

Is that the fuel pump I hear?..and if so..is it really that loud?...

I have a 2000 180Q 105k miles. It's pretty noticeable..you don't even have to crouch down..you can just stand next to the car and hear it faintly...

I have a 255 Walbro in my other car, and I don't think it's that loud...

help! am I being paranoid?

Yup, fuel pump. If you think yours is loud, you should hear mine.

Haven't noticed the TT one yet but the one in my Jetta is loud like that.

is yours upgraded?..is an oem one being loud a bad sign?>>

..not really sure what you meant by that..?

is it on the way out?..not sure if i should leave it alone or replace it...

Mine is a heavy duty one due to my stgIII kit.

I'm really not qualified to give advice about replacing it, but if it concerns you have it checked out.
