Default It's a bit noisier... (first VF impressions & some install notes) >

In fact I was shocked when I cranked it, but realized it just hadn't settled from being on jack stands. There is *real* resonance inside the cabin at idle, but it seems to settle out at speed, and was less at the end of the test drive than at the beginning; in fact it's quite nice in it's directness, but this isn't a mod for everyone - that's been pretty clear for awhile. Great feel and feedback, and transmission of power; clutching is less forgiving - which is something I didn't anticipate.

The driver's side actually required lowering the engine a few inches to get the old mount out, but otherwise relatively straightforward; torquing not really a problem. Battery and air intake needed to be pulled, but otherwise a fast effort.

The passenger's side was a little bit more of a pain - more on that later, but generally pretty fast too. Had to pull the coolant reservoir but other hoses did not require disconnecting, and the mount did come out without any significant maneuvering of the engine.

Yup, there it is, peeking out below the PS reservoir!
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53277/2_23_08_022.jpg">

And another, 'just to prove it's in there'. ;-)
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53277/2_23_08_025.jpg">

This one's really easy, not much else to say about it.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53277/2_23_08_031.jpg">

Here's where I might have done some unintentional damage - in the maneuvering of the mount under the hoses, it seems like the fittings on this reservoir came loose. There are actually 4 lines total into it, just on the passenger compartment side of the coolant tank - you can barely see the bottom one, with the Audi rings on it - that one that I seemed to be able to push back into place and it seems secure. I'm not sure offhand what's actually going on here, and/or if they can be just push-locked back into place or if I need to replace the entire component
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53277/2_23_08_033.jpg">

Slightly more close-in:
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53277/2_23_08_036.jpg">

And closer still - the line with the yellow mark on the clamp is the only one I can't seem to re-seat; anyone know anything about these/this? I risk getting debris into the system like it is.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53277/2_23_08_042.jpg">

Anyway, done...

Default Wish I had done the VF mounts, they look fantastic.

The install is pretty easy, only difference I had when doing mine is I was able to leave the battery in place. I also ended up lowering the engine to get the driver's side mount out. If you take the mount off of the transmission I guess you wouldn't have to but dropping the engine a bit is pretty easy.

Default How are the 034's doing for you? >

I really pulled the battery because I wanted to rework the FMIC hoses and the DV relo - with the intention of putting in my SFS dv relo hose, but that was a wasted effort - no clearance, yada yada. I ended up ordering a Braille battery - roughly 6"x3-1/2"x6" - to get me more room in there, and that will really help, but I'm still not sure I'll be able to use the hose (much longer story...) :-(

Resonances at idle can be minimized by raising the idle speed with lemmiwinks

Give it more time and miles. It will get quieter and the vibrations will weaken.

Default I've had some issues with them, wasn't entirely thrilled with tech support on their end

I've already spent the money on them tho so they'll be reinstalled today but I do wish I had gone with the VF mounts. For the money I guess the 034 will be ok.

Default By the way - forgot to thank you for your install writeup; very helpful! >

I'm pretty sure it'll 'adjust' and soften a bit over time; I'm really pleased with the feel though.

Default I really don't know much about that; need to learn more >

From what I've seen it looks like a pretty good ticket for tweaking.
