Default 2 ?'s

First: I was thinking about changing out the front pads on my 2000 FWD TT and was told by the parts guy at the dealership that my particular model does not have the wear sensor. Does that sound right?(guess I could just take the front wheel off and look but...)

Second: The other day I went to get a simple rotate and balance but was told that due to unusual wear on one of the rear tires that they couldn't and that I needed shocks. The service guy at the dealership (without looking at it) thought that wasn't since they rarely have to change shocks out.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Default Stock shocks are not very good. Mine were leaking oil at 40K miles. For the rest,

I'd need to see the car.

Dealers outright lie about shocks. Don't waste your time, go get some Bilsteins.

Default They rarely change shocks because the OEM ones suck. >>

Search the forums for the many discussions on shocks et al. Bilstien's seem to be popular (I have KW 1 coil over's on my 2000 Quattro and love em)

Unusual wear would more likely be an alignment problem. Lots of potholes where you live? Curbed a tire? I'd get an alignemt check if one of my tires was wearing badly.

Default Forgive the ignorance but

I've seen the Bilsteins on TT Stuff and it sounds like they're selling the shocks for the front and the rear. Aren't there struts on the front? If so, what am I missing here?
