How does dealer know front rotors and brake pads need replacing if wheels never came off?
Audi dealer service shop then "advised" front rotors and brake pads need replacing plus rear pads.
Also stated my 3.2 TT has slotted rotors (it doesn't) that's why they are so expensive!!!!!
On the whole I'd say that the dealer is fishing for work. Pop a wheel off and measure how thick the pad left is. Try to check all four front thickness because if one brake is dragging a bit then you can have uneven wear.

1) Place caliper over rotor ensuring the outer wear ridge passes through the relief area in the caliper jaws.
2) Read the measurement in Millimeters
3) Compare measured thickness to the following:
Vented front rotors: New (25mm) replace at (23mm)
Vented rear rotors: New (22mm) replace at (20mm)
Solid rear rotors: New (9mm) replace at (7mm)
4) replace rotors as necessary<ul><li><a href="http://www.modshack.info/caliper.htm">http://www.modshack.info/caliper.htm</a</li></ul>
