Default Sunday project: replace engine and transmission mounts

With almost 90K on the TT, and after reading other's notes on replacing these I have them queued up and ready to replace today (can I call this a tune-up for QDM?). I'm replacing with stock as shown below. I'll report later today how they feel. Wish me luck!

Default :-) Tranny mount out - the rubber is shot and it's flopping all over the place.

Me thinks this will be a good change.

Oh, also lubed the TyrolSport caliper bushing pins for good measure.

Default How hard was this, it looks pretty straight forward..

Aside from removing the coolant tank, it seems quite simple.


What "issues" did you run into, if any.

Default Same here .. will soon be doing the same with VF mounts

and a significant amount of gracious assistance by JohnLZ7W.....
I think it's a good idea, and between that and replacing my shot clutch and flywheel, I can't wait!

Default Issues: Be careful, don't get in a hurry, don't do this:

Goober up the threads on the transmission mount point. The mount on the transmission side has 5 points where it is bolted down: 3 points on the body and 2 points on a separate piece that is mounted to the transmission. That piece is made of aluminum and if you mis-thread the bolt while you're putting the new mount on, you'll need to re-tap or purchase that part.

Other issues on the tranny side: you have to fight with the wiring chase to get the mount bolts out and get the new mount back in, but it's doable.

Engine side: not sure of any issues, I didn't get to that side. After stripping those threads I decided to tackle the remainder later.
