Looking to sell my 2002 TT 225 Coupe (ALMS Edition)...
What's a fair price for a private sale? It has 50k miles and is in excellent condition. It has always been garaged and has been a California car for most of its life. I just did the timing belt/water pump job, the 70k service, and the clutch plate was replaced at about 45k as part of a transmission fix covered by warranty (the shifting fork broke). Front and rear brakes and summer tires were all replaced within the last 6 months. It had a minor fender bender (a VW Golf cracked the rear bumper and dented an exhaust tip at a stoplight) so the rear bumper and rear exhaust unit were replace at about 25k. Kelley says ~$18k but given the ~$5k of recent maintenance work I am thinking I should get a bit more. (I am thinking about getting an A5.)

I've never sold a car for less than kbb... the prices ppl give you here are reflective of those in
the know. It's natural that we'll be biased toward cheaper pricing, we're such car ppl that we frequent this online forum. We probably all did plenty of research before buying our cars and shopped around online and offline for the best possible deal. The majority of people don't do this, and don't really know how to do this. I'd argue you could get kbb as long as you are a good salesman and you keep the car in tip-tip shape at all times while trying to sell it.

But like I said its about marketing and if you have card worth a couple thousand.. play it.
Just for grins I checked out auto trader there is a ALMS listed for $24, 950, they may be dreaming but better to negotiate down then leave money on the table.
