Default Boost Question

So last night I went ahead and installed my Autometer Boost Gauge. I have an 01 225, with a Modshack stage 1, and supersprint exhaust. I did some searching on the forums, and some say 9-12 PSI is normal, others say it's 14.5psi. Which one is correct? I am getting an 11-12 PSI spike, with a 9-10 hold. I am at -15 when cruising at 55, and I idle a -20-25ish. Is all this right or do I have a boost leak somewhere? And if it's not right, would a new DV help solve the problem?

Default stock 225 should be around 1 bar>>>

or 14 psi....boost leak probably not, a failing MAF or O2 sensor can pull boost......

How many miles on the MAF??? you have access to VAG?

Default Before the flash, I was around 14 peak. It does fluctuate depending on the gear and how you....

hit it.

I don't know if the MAF has been replaced in it's life, but the car has 61k on it, I've only owned it for a bout 20k of the miles. And I don't have access to a VAG COM.

Default a slow dieing MAF will prevent the car from reaching max boost>>>

it would probably not hurt to see if someone is local to you that could help you troubleshoot this with VAG....most Audi enthusiasts will help out willingly....

another test would be to disconnect the MAF altogether and run the car. While you will get a check engine light, if the MAF is bad, you should see your boost numbers rise a little....The default fuel maps will get you to 13psi IIRC.....

Default wouldn't disconnecting the MAF...

cause the car to run like crap? Maybe a dumb question but by MAF you mean Mass Air Flow sensor correct?

Default No...It would default to prebuilt fuel maps...>>...

and other parameters. If your MAF is bad the car will usually run better..

Could it be a bad DV?

Could it be the DV? I was reading that the MAF doesn't usually bite it until around 85k. So you recommend unhooking it and seeing what happens? Once I plug it back in, with the CEL clear itself or do I have to do it?
