rear suspension knocking question (with pic to entice curiosity)
I've had a relatively quiet rear clunking or knocking that's most noticeable at slow speed whenever the chassis shifts. You can recreate it by rocking the rear up/down when the car is stationary. It appears to come from the where the rear sway bar connects to a link of some kind (highlighted in yellow on the pic). If you rock the end of the sway bar back and forth by hand when the car is stopped, you can hear/feel a bit of a clunk or knock.
An indie alignment guy said there shouldn't be any play here and suggested I'd prob'ly have to simply replace the link (the nuts are torqued to spec). Has anybody (1) done this before; (2) know what the official name is for this "sway bar link," and (3) do you figure the stealer is my best source?
Thanx, ~john
BTW, it's a Neuspeed 19mm rear bar on a quattro coupe
Drop links can be gotten from PureMS or ECS.....
Dealerships are great if you're in a bind and need something right away, but rarely are they the best.

Rear Sway Links
