Diagnosis...boost leak?
I took it into the dealer a few months back b/c I felt the lack of power and they VAGed it and no engine fault codes came up. They said I just "got used" to the car. I remember when I test driove the car, I came back with my hand shaky because it felt so fast at WOT so the lack of power was something I definitely noticed.
I hear the hissing noise of the turbo spool, but today when I put the pedal to the metal, I also heard a slight "hollow" noise (almost like blowing over a coke bottle) that I've never heard before. This doesn't happen all the time, but I was able to reproduce it twice on the highway mashing the pedal in 5th and sixth gears. Also where I would expect the car to accelerate at a faster pace and jump somewhat when I have my foot down, it just continues accelerating as if I didn't mash the pedal down or "lags".
I VAGed it again today and no engine fault codes.
What is the best way to diagnose this?
I wish I had specific boost PSI numbers to give, but I haven't had time to rip up the dashboard on my TT as of late and install my boost gauge.
The car is CPOed. But if I have to take it back to the dealer for repair, what is the best strategy to get them to check it out? Should I ask them to specifically pressure test it? Should I log it independently and give them a read a read out when I bring it in?
TIA for any input!
Run these logs and email me the file:
block 002, 118, 204 (all three at the same time)
Start at 2K in 3rd gear, start log, go WOT to redline, stop log. I can tell a lot from that info and plot you a boost curve..
