Question for eBay experts.
This is non-Audi related but I know some of this crowd has eBay selling experience, so here's a situation I'd like some opinions on.
I currently have an item for sale on eBay (a mountain bike suspension fork). I just got the following question on my item:
Hi
I´m from Portugal and a new ebay user. I´m creating a paypal account (waiting to receive tghe paypal code), but i will like to ship this fork to USA. Is that a problem for you?
Now, I have no issues shipping to international destinations. Nor would I have too much of an issue selling to a new eBay user. (We all started as new users at some point.) But would there be any risks to selling to this guy, considering a) he has zero feedback, b) he is international, and c) he wants me to ship to a different address than where he lives?
As long as the guy has a valid Paypal account and pays me in a timely manner, does it matter where I ship the item? Or is there something fishy I am overlooking here?

Many overseas buyers have either Relatives or forwarding services in the US to send purchases on to them. This is pretty normal...I've even done it here with forum members. I would see no risk, as long as you secure the funds and document the shipping request.

If there is an issue, I think PayPal will only back you if you ship to the address on the account.
In PayPal he should be able to enter an alternate address. He should enter the US address there and use that for the "ship to" when he pays. Then all your bases are covered.

especially if it is processed via a credit card through paypal. The credit card companies policies override Paypals......even if you move the money, you are still on the hook if it is reversed and found in their favor....ask me how i know.

When I do this, I always charge extra for insurance because Paypal will not cover you
if you ship to a non-confirmed address, and you'll be on your own. It may not be ideal, but at least you will be able to fight the shipper for a refund if the buyer claims non receipt.
