you'll want to do the whole TB kit
your tensioner (as important as the WP) needs to be replaced when you do the timing belt.
and you need to take the timing belt off to get at the water pump, so why not?

You can edit your post to fix your "imeller" spelling. Answer to your question is, yes, you CAN
replace just the water pump impeller. However, you should NOT!!! I actually assume you mean the water pump assembly, not just the impeller, but that isn't enough either. The timing belt tensioner is also prone to failure, and the belt is a wear item as well. Do it right and replace ALL the parts that come in the popular kits (ECS or DieselGeek). The only "optional" item is the thermostat, which can be replaced separately if needed.

if u cant replace the TB u cant replace the water pump
the water pump is powerd by the TB.......... one can of worms that id sugest not opening if u cant finish the job w/ out a 2nd thaught. these motors have no "give" if something isnt just right ur out a few "k's"......

ITS NOT too hard a job to do a TB if u have A. all the time in the world B. can read a repair manual
C. have someone to back check ur "logic" as to why things have worked out in said manor........ and D. this is a big one dont skip it......... you hand spin the motor over about 50x's and keep rechecking eveythign befor u try to start it, a bit of pain sping it over a few times then checking eveything cna save u from blwoing ur motor!

well.. how much does it overheat?
and when does it overheat, is it just at idle? or when cruising as well.
you can check to see HOW hot the car is getting via the climate control, you might consider doing this to verify.
