I hate coming in second.
On the other hand, At least we won't have to worry about funding the huge incentive package these companies demand, and one more automaker driving wages up further in Alabama. I employ people too, and Honda--Mercedes-- Hyundai have certainly affected labor costs in central Alabama. Does that sound like sour grapes? Don't mean to.

It is - but what hasn't been announced is what they will be built there....
except for a "sedan for the NA market" which will be similar to the existing Passat. With the Pueblo plant building Jetta's and New Beetles, what else would they build here? With gas on the rise - and the Touareg a sales failure in the US - would they build that here? The Tiguan is another likely candidate, as is the next generation Rabbit/Golf. Then there is Audi - will they build A4's and Q5's there?

The choice really sucks.......
Limestone county in AL should have gotten it. Only a few miles from my house in Greenbrier where they have the best BBQ anywhere.
Chattanooga is so jammed up with traffic (specially semis) these days that I despise crossing it on I-24 (I-75 isn't much better) any time of the day. Wait until these poor souls (VW workers) have to play with the traffic congestion, they'll change their minds.

Sounds like Chattanooga did. That seems to be the secret to insure plant locations... Winston Salem NC bent over hard for Dell computer and got screwed in the deal..
