Default AC issues finally showed a diagnostic code on HVAC...

22.3 A/C Refrigerant High Pressure Switch, sporadic open

anyone have experience with this?

Still working on selling the TT for another.. choices are narrowed down to

2004 VW R32 w/ 23k miles CPO.
2005 S4 w/ 43k miles CPO.

Monthly payments and insurance about the same. I want the R but my wife wants me to get the S4. I just dont know what to do.

Default Gonna be a LOT more maintenance..>>

With the S4. You might wanna check that out. The R32 would be a better choice I think..

Default DUDE!

You're still having problems with your AC!? What all have you done since last time!? I remember reading about your issue a while back.

I had the same readout on my HVAC unit and it turned out to be too much pressure in the freon so we leaked some out.

Default That is exactly what would happen if system is overcharged with refrigerant.

The condenser coil (in front of the radiator) serves as a reservoir (receiver) for the condensed gas (liquid freon). If too much, it fills a portion of the coil with liquid and thus renders that part of the coil unavailable as a heat exchange surface to condense gas. On a very hot day you need ALL of the coil to remove the heat from the coil. If you can't remove the heat because some of the coil is being used to hold excess refrigerant, the pressure will be too high and the high pressure switch will open and shut down the compressor to save the system from damage.
Before you bleed of some refrigerant however, check and make sure BOTH fans are running. A bad fan would cause exactly the same symptom due to not enough heat being removed from the condenser coil.
Good Luck!

Default I've been doing some reading on the S4 forum and doesn't seem to be

too much talk regarding a lot of maintence.

Really just the cost of the 55k and 75k intervals as well as a belt change.

The 4.2 is a pretty simple engine- no turbos to worry about! My '06 has been great.

Default Oh...I was thinking the twin turbo...I don't follow the S4 generations...>

Agree on the V8...Probably the better choice there..

Default Well I did it. Pulled the trigger this afternoon. Its getting detailed right now..

I'm picking it up after work.

2005 CPO 43k w/ free maintainence package!

I'm sad to see the TT go - I finally got the summer wheels back on this Tuesday - but I'm happy to be walking away from the issues it has right now.

Default Congrats - you'll love it. (Except when it comes to the gas pump :P) >>

I think the B6 forum is much more active than the B7 forum, but they're essentially the same car. See you over there.
