Default Im stumped!

I have a 2001 180 QC that just is being nice to me anymore. Recently my MAF went, so i decided to change the MAF, coil packs, 1 heat range cooler plugs and added the modshack stage 2 and 3. When all was said and done I am experiencing a hesitation from the car. It will sometimes fall flat on its face and other times still accelerate but feel as if something was holding it back. The car will build boost and at WOT and in higher rpm's the power is cutting in and out. In first the car will run tip top, second I start to notice the on/off power, but third through fifth its very apparent. Thinking it was the recent modifications i returned the car back to stock and it still reacts the same way. Does anyone know if I am missing something here? I am not experiencing any CEL's or codes. TIA!

Default Correct MAF? There are 2 for the 180...>

Depending on engine type. AWP motor should take a 461L MAF, ATC a 461D but will work wih a 461A

Dealer stated my vin number was an ATC engine code and gave me part # 06A 906 461L. The original part # 06A 906 461D. Did they mess up? BTW your setup rocks. I just got the parts off of you about a month ago and do notice a huge difference in my car. Just wish i could push it to its limit.

Default I think that's the problem Eric....>

If you're an ATC motor (There is a stamping on the front passenger side of the Cylinder head. You should be able to see that easily) then my info says 461D which is what you had originally. The 180 is somewhat unusual in that they will run poorly with the wrong MAF....

Try unplugging the MAF completely and see how it runs. The car will default to the built in fuel maps (you'll get a Cel but don't wory anout it). If the car runs fine, that's your issue...

OK, took the car for a spin with the MAF disconnected. The car accelerated much better, but I can still feel the power going on and off. I s this now due to the MAF being disconnected? Also i did not get a CEL for disconnecting the MAF, but instead the light for the ESP came on.

Default I have an ATC engine (2000 cq) Part number: 0 280 218 032 on the housing...>>

I used the VW 2.0 from ECS Tuning for 3 years with no problems. I did recently replace with the ATC version. A little more low end punch than the VW but pretty much the same on the top end. BTW - you can get a bad MAF too.

As for the cel, you can either take it to Pep Boys or Autozone and have them clear the code or you can remove the negative cable on your battery and that will clear all codes.

Make sure that you have your radio code before doing this as somethimes it will cause the radio to go into safe more.

Hope this helps.

Default Having the same problem as you, Eric.

I was having the problem and got a new MAF; this helped a little but I still get a hesitation it's just not as pronounced.

Coil packs were changed within the last 5 months, and I'm all stock...

Maybe spark plugs? Boost leak? O2 Sensor? I'd like to get it fixed this week so I can take advantage of Revo's 20% off sale and get chipped =)
