Default Ok Steve, spending money for real this time.

Just not on a silly gauge... ; )

I recently installed KW V3's in my quest to eventually turn my car into an almost dedicated track car (only as street legal as it has to be).

I already had the KMAC stage 1 camber/caster strut tower kit, but it was absolute garbage from the start, and now its absolutely useless since its not compatible with any strut with valve adjustment in the top of the tube. I'll be buying a ground control kit. Now, they have 2 options. One is drop in, w/ 1.8 additional degrees of adjustment. The other requires modification of the strut tower (not a problem), and offers 3.5 degrees of adjustment. I can get either for roughly the same amount of money, so it really comes down to how much adjustment I want/need.

I'd rather over-do it than have to upgrade again in a year or two. Will I ever see a need for an additional 3.5 degrees of camber?

What kind of camber/caster settings would I expect to see for a track based car?

Default You should ask the track guys..>>

I was more into street feel than absolute cornering power. More camber makes the car feel heavy... Must be all those porsches in my psst...:-)

Default Mine's a lot less modified than yours but--------

I find that -1.5 degrees of front camber is plenty. I actually am wearing my Falkens more quickly on the inside portion of the tread. (although with more camber one might run lower air pressures with R compounds than I am able to run with the Falkens) Tire temps (when I've checked them) are fairly even across the tire. A couple of the really serious guys that I have tracked with have done the camber plates and adjustable control arms along with really high rate springs on coil overs. This makes the car too extreme for my tastes. I'm not going to do a lot more to my car, as I don't give up much to the faster cars in the turns. In the straights is where the Vettes and the Porsches bury me. Not possible to fix that with 1.8 litres.

Default Thanks for the info.

I'm learning now that if I plan on doing much SCCA stuff, I'll probably be restricted to the drop in plate anyway. I didn't realize that modification to the strut tower isn't allowed in many classes.

If anyone can fill me in more on whats allowed/not allowed for SCCA racing, that'd be much appreciated.

Trying to digest this, but its a lot of reading, and I'm usually a bit burned out at the end of teh day when I have time to actually sit down with it.

Default Ground Control 1.8, KWV3s with heavier front springs, rear adjustable bars, etc

even with the 1.8 version I run
-2.7 left and right front camber
0 Cross camber
7 left and right caster
0 degrees of toe

rear -1.3 camber
.07 left and right degrees toe
.15 total toe

I could still get a little more camber out of the front but not much more, hope this helps
