Almost forgot, 7 years of ownership, 120k miles on the car and I finally did the rear shelf fix :)

Was really easy to pop the shelf apart, used some nylon interior trim tools to pry it apart. Removed the metal rods and left them out. Got all of the old glue off of the mesh and used some uber adhesive to put it all back together. So far it seems like it's working!

you think the metal rods were making the noise? or added to it? thinking about doing the same.

probably not...the plastic to plastic rubbing makes for a different noise. glad it worked out

for you.
